Newspapers

The Library subscribes to a variety of local and national newspapers. Back issues of newspapers are kept for 2 months, plus the current month.

  • The Post Star is available on microfilm beginning with July 1909
  • The Chronicle is available on microfilm beginning with October 1981

Scanned issues of the Post Star, from 1909-1919, are available online at NYS Historic Newspapers. Select issues from other local newspapers are available as well. Post Star holdings (1882-1919) in Newspapers.com can be accessed from Library computers.

The Library has several other historical newspapers on microfilm dating from the mid-19th century. Coverage is primarily for the Glens Falls area and many of the holdings are incomplete.  Please contact the Reference Desk for more information.

The microfilm readers are located near the Park Entrance. Black & white printing is available for 15ยข per page or you may download to a flash drive.

The Reference staff is available to help patrons use the microfilm readers; please ask at the Park Desk if you need assistance.
