CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

Early Literacy Programs (weekly)

Baby Lap Time, Walking Wonders, Toddler Story Time, Preschool Art Time, Preschool Story Time.  Sponsorship includes all programs for one year.

 

Summer & Winter Reading Programs

Summer Reading Program: This national program successfully promotes summer reading through a system of incentives and special rewards.  1,145 children, 41 teens, and 208 parents participated in Crandall Public Library’s 2011 Summer Reading Program. 

Winter Reading Program: Similar to the Summer Reading Program, offered during the winter months. 

Sponsorship is for both sessions.

 

Bumble Bear Club

A  “Read to Me” program for ages birth to 3 years old with caregivers.  Builds early literacy skills and encourages reading readiness to prepare young children for success at school.  610 participants registered for the 2011 Bumble Bear Club.  Offered in summer and winter.  Sponsorship is for both sessions.

 

Teddy Bears Picnic

One-day event held annually in August.  Hundreds of children and caregivers bring their favorite teddy bears for many fun activities including stories, a check-up with the nurse, designing outfits for teddy, and playing games. 

 

Teen Programs

Ongoing activities offered year-round by and for youth ages 13 to 18 through the Library’s Teen Center.  Focuses include homework help, puzzles and games, theater/improv, hobbies, poetry, literature, and technology.  Sponsorship includes all Teen Programs for one year.

 

ADULT PROGRAMS

Film Series

The film program has offered the community the opportunity to experience a selection of American independent, feature, documentary, foreign and experimental films.  The film series generally offers weekly viewings during the spring and fall months of the year, as well as the month of February in recognition of Black History Month.  Sponsorship is for the full year.

 

Monthly Book Groups

Two distinct book discussion groups are offered each month.  Conversations are aided by the coordinating Librarians who provide discussion questions, reviews, and other supplemental materials.  Sponsorship includes both programs for one year.

 

Adult Services Programming

Crandall Public Library’s Adult Services department presents an average of one special program per month throughout the year.  The focus can be literature, music, theater, or general interest.  Sponsorship includes a full year of special programs.

 

Folklife Center Exhibitions   

The Folklife Center of Crandall Public Library presents changing exhibitions relating to its mission to research and present the cultural traditions of the upper Hudson Valley and southern Adirondacks of upstate New York.  Exhibitions displayed in the Folklife Gallery for six months on average.  Sponsorship is for one exhibition, chosen by the Business Partner.

 

Live! Folklife Concerts

The Folklife Center presents a series of live folk music concerts twice each year, in the spring and fall.  The free concerts draw an average audience of 100 for an annual total of approximately 800.  Sponsorship is for the full year.
