History and Cultural Programs

Crandall Library's Center for Folklife, History & Cultural Programs strives to preserve and present the living and historical cultural heritage of the upper Hudson Valley and Adirondacks of upstate New York.During our renovation project (2007-2008) The Center for Folklife is temporarily located at the Southern Adirondack Library System (SALS) 22 Whitney Place, Saratoga Springs, NY, 12866. Research is by appointment only M-F 9-noon & 1-4 pm. Contact Erica Burke, Archivist/Librarian 518.584.7300 x226 for an appointment. Directions: Take Exit 14/NYS 87 (“Northway”) onto 9P North (Union Avenue) towards Saratoga Springs. Go 1.6 miles to the end of Union Avenue. Turn left at the traffic light onto Circular Street. Go one block, stop at the 4-way stop, and continue straight onto Whitney Place. SALS is the one-story brick building on your left, 22 Whitney Place. Turn left into its parking lot. Check-in with the receptionist at the front door.
These collections are available for use in our Reading Room. Monday-Tuesday 1-4 pm, Wednesday 1-8pm, Thursday-Saturday 1-4pm.
